4 day old moon Posted on 21/04/2018 by philipp I haven’t photographed the moon at this age, so here are some new lunar features for me. The crater pair Messier A&B. Mare Nectaris, the ancient ghost crater Daguerre, at bottom the flooded crater Fracastorius. Rupes & Rima Cauchy. To the bottom or Rupes Cauchy the volcanic domes tau and omega Cauchy are visible. The top of omega Cauchy shows a small craterlet. Atlas, Hercules and Endymion Piccolomini with double peak, to the left the Rupes Altai snakes off into the darkness. Petavius with Rima Petavius. Vallis Rheita is located between the craters Rheita (right) and Metius (left) Mare Frigoris, Keldysh in the lower right. Gärnter with Rima Gärtner at top left. All images were done with a 20cm f/5 Newtonian, with 3x Televue Barlow lens, using a QHY5IIc camera.
